WPA Heyball Parasport World Championship: Mysuru’s Alok Jain to represent India

Mysuru: Mysuru city’s Alok Jain, a specially-abled cueist, will be taking part in the WPA Heyball Parasport World Championship organised by World Pool Association (WPA) from Dec. 14 to 20 at the Los Angeles Convention Centre, California, USA.
The championship features male and female athletes with musculoskeletal disorders (MSD) to compete in two main categories: wheelchair athletes and standing athletes.
A total of 128 male and 128 female players in each category are taking part in the championship. The tournament will be held on JOY 9ft tables with rounded pocket openings, using Super Aramith TV-Cup Pro balls and Strachan 110 cloth, ensuring the highest standards of competition. Athletes will compete in a double-elimination format, followed by a single knock-out stage, culminating in an intense finale on Dec. 20.
Following Alok Jain’s selection to the championship, Pathi Foundation felicitated him at an event held at a private hotel in city recently. Alok is one among the seven-member team selected to represent the country in the tournament. Along with Alok, four other players from the State are also in the Indian contingent.
Former Corporator Parthasarathy, BJP City Vice-President Jogi Manju, JD(S) Working President Prakash Priyadarshan and others were present.
